Consequence of Sound

When FIDLAR cover a song, you can rest assured that the end result will be something entirely their own. A couple years ago, the Los Angeles rockers transformed Nick Cave’s brooding “Red Right Hand” into a pop-punk party jam. As a follow-up, they added their own unique lo-fi spin to Elliot Smith’s extra tender “Whatever”.

For its latest sonic renovation, FIDLAR has recorded a cover of Sheryl Crow‘s 1996 romance anthem “If It Makes You Happy”. In the hands of the these skate punks, the song is reborn entirely as a psych pop-noise rock mutant, full of sweet, tender verses that explode into violent outbursts of bloody angst and harsh dissonance. Check out the song below via its accompanying music video, which features footage from the original video. You’ll never look at Ms. Crow quite the same way again.
